Uses :
Chemical intermediate.
Cyanide antidote.

Melting point, °C :
140  Richardson et al. 1992

Other physicochemical properties :
Soluble in organig solvents: ethanol and chloroform (Richardson
et al. 1992).

Other information of degradation :
Nitrosomonas sp.75-100% inhibition of ammonia oxidation at 100
mg/l (Richardson et al. 1992).

LDLo values to mammals in non-oral exposure , mg/kg :
525  ipr-rat, Richardson et al. 1992

Effects on physiology of mammals :
Oral dog 0.5 mg/kg protected against cyanide poisoning induced
by intravenous HCN dose of 0.67 or 1.34 mg/kg.
Protection
caused sequestration of cyanide inside red cells.

Oral rat (unspecifie concentration) brought about peak
methaemoglobin levels at 15-40 min while intravenous adminis-
tration caused peak methaemoglobin levels 15-25 min afte dosing
(Richardson et al. 1992).

LD50 values to birds in oral exposure, mg/kg :
133  orl-starling, Richardson et al. 1992

LC50 values to fishes, mg/l :
146  96 hr, Pimephales promelas, Geiger et al. 1990

EC50 values to fishes, mg/l :
140  96 hr, mbt, Pimephales promelas, Geiger et al. 1990
