Synonyms :
1-hydroxy-2,6-dinitrobenzene
Beta-Dinitrophenol
Phenol, 2,6-dinitro-

Sumformula of the chemical :
C6H4N2O5
EINECS-number :
2093579

Uses :
Bacteriocide, manufacture of dyestuffs and analytical reagent,
a pH indicator.

Vapor density (air=1) :
6.35  Richardson et al. 1994

63  63-64°C, Richardson et al. 1994
64

Log octanol/water coefficient, log Pow :
1.18  Richardson et al. 1994

Adsorption/desorption :
Calculated Koc 133 indicates 2,6-dinitrophenol will not absorb
strongly to soil or sediments (Richardson et al. 1994).

Other physicochemical properties :
Miscible in water.
Orgenic solvent: dimethyl sulfoxide,
ethanol, dimethyl formamide, chloroform, diethyl ether, acetone
and pyridine (Richardson et al. 1994).

Other information of degradation :
Completely degraded by Pseudomonas sp. isolated from soil.

No degradation after 20 days, determined by COD removal, in
adapted activated sludge when incorporated as sole carbon
source at 20°C (Richardson et al. 1994).

Other information of bioaccumulation :
Calculated bioconcentration factor 6.

Calculated Koc 133 indicates, that 2,6-dinitrophenol will not
absorb strongly to soil or sediments (Richardson et al. 1994).

LD50 values to mammals in non-oral exposure , mg/kg :
38  ipr-rat
45  ipr-mus, RTECS 1996
